Each year, RSECon aims to deliver a relevant, inclusive, and engaging conference experience for the RSE community, featuring a balanced and varied programme that caters to all roles and skill levels. Questions & Answers
Participate in Q&A sessions during the conference to ask questions and engage with speakers and panelists. This is your opportunity to gain deeper insights and clarify any points of interest.

New for RSECon26: a dedicated lightning talks session on Thursday afternoon. Three minutes to get your project or idea in front of the RSECon audience. Sign-ups are now closed.

The RSE Timeline
To mark the 10th anniversary of RSECon, we're building a timeline of the history of research software engineering. Find it in-person in the atrium, or view it as a digital timeline on the website.
Conference Dinner Table Themes
For the conference dinner, each table has been assigned a topic. Attendees can sit at any table with a topic they’re keen to discuss, to meet other attendees with at least one shared interest. You’re not required to talk about the topic all night, but hopefully it helps get the conversation started.

Live Streams
The live streams of talks and workshops will be available through Zoom Events. Joining instructions will be sent to the email address you used during registration a few days before the conference.
Questions & Answers
All Q&A sessions will run via Slido for both in-person and remote participants. If you have a question please ask it through Slido, and like other questions you want to hear answered. Session chairs will facilitate the Q&A, asking the speaker popular questions. You can join in using this link, or enter #RSECon26 at slido.com or in the mobile app.
Lightning Talks
Lightning talks are three minutes long. Not a replacement for a full talk, but enough time to get your project or idea in front of the RSECon audience — an opportunity to get feedback, raise the visibility of a project, or find new collaborators. Your talk doesn’t have to be about research software: if you’re excited about it, other attendees will be too.
Slots are handed out first come, first served, with preference given to people who are not already presenting something at RSECon26. Sign-ups close at the end of the lunch break on Wednesday 9 September, or earlier if all the slots fill. Read the full details and FAQs.
Team Photos
The official RSECon26 photographer is taking individual and group photos on the first floor balcony of The Wave, in five-minute appointments. Book a photo slot.
If you’re booking for a group, please coordinate with them in advance and make sure everyone is at the balcony at your scheduled time.

Posters
Posters are published in the RSECon26 Zenodo community. Click a poster’s title to open its record, where you can view the poster along with the full abstract and citation details.
The RSE Timeline
We’re marking the 10th anniversary or RSECon by mapping out the history of research software engineering: the year your RSE group was founded, when you started your first RSE job, a significant project or milestone, or any other date you think belongs on it.
There is a physical display in the atrium next to Workroom 2 where you can add to the timeline in person, and a digital timeline on the website.

Floor Plans
The conference takes place in The Wave venue in Sheffield. Sessions are held across multiple tracks on both the ground floor and the first floor. Use these floor plans to find your session rooms, locate facilities, and navigate between tracks.
Getting Help
You can get help in-person by speaking to a committee member or conference volunteer who will be wearing plum t-shirts with our conference logo. You can also ask questions and get help from the organisers using the #helpdesk channel in our Slack Workspace.
